Anniversary 10 Years Nitsch museum Mistelbach
The nitsch museum Mistelbach looks back on ten successful years and celebrates this with a great ceremony.
In addition to a video retrospective showing the exhibitions, actions and performances of the last ten years, the anniversary will feature the newly composed symphony "Traubenfleisch 2007 - 2017" by Hermann Nitsch. Andrea Cusumano is conducting the orchestra “Klangvereinigung Wien” with a newly established choir, originating from the Weinviertel.
On 24th May 2007 the nitsch museum, originally called Hermann Nitsch Museum, was inaugurated. Since Hermann Nitsch has his roots in a small Weinviertel village called Prinzendorf, Mistelbach as the future location for his museum was a deliberate choice.
Nitsch significantly contributed to the Austrian art movement and is also an integral part of the international art scene. It is therefore not surprising that a monographic museum is dedicated to the artist already in his lifetime.
On the initiative of the former mayor of Mistelbach, Ing. Christian Resch, Prof. Denk was commissioned with the planning of the museum. The aim was, and is, to present the various blocks of the artist's work and to explore and document his overall work of art. Selected works for the new museum were provided by the artist himself.
The former factory for agricultural equipment Heger & Sohn in the Mistelbacher Waldstraße predestined itself as an exhibition space. Inspired by the work of the artist and the existing building structure, the architects Johannes Kraus and Michael Lawugger designed the factory premises. The resulting area is reminiscent of the St. Gallen monastery complex.
