Workshop: Kaltnadelradierung

Drypoint etching is an intaglio printmaking technique. A drawing is incised directly into a smooth printing plate (either metal or transparent plastic) using a sturdy steel needle. The plate is then inked, with the ink remaining only in the engraved lines and grooves. Damp handmade paper is placed on the plate and run through an intaglio printing press to create the print. Unlike traditional etching, this technique requires no acids or chemicals, relying entirely on mechanical means.
